Fellowships for Jordanian researchers

Synaps is offering five fellowships to junior Jordanian researchers to take part in its research project on the role of women in the economy.

These nine-month fellowships will start on 1 November 2025 and end on 31 July 2026. Candidates must be young graduates based in Jordan. Fellows will allocate up to 40 hours per month to the project to make time for their research as well as training, and mentoring provided by Synaps. Fellows will receive a monthly compensation and Synaps will cover expenses related to fieldwork.

Throughout the project, each fellow will lead a research project in relation to women in the economy in Jordan. Research topics, to be discussed with Synaps, may include debt, micro-credit, household budgeting especially in the context of Syrian refugees considering return, and assessing the effects of women empowerment programs. Fellows will attend two intensive, week-long workshops on feminist research techniques and analysis (in person) as well as regular team meetings (online).

Specifically, the fellows will undertake the following tasks:
- Review the available literature on the selected topic
- Conduct qualitative interviews
- Produce transcripts following Synaps methodology
